Grounds Maintenance

Grounds maintenance will carry out all duties required to create and maintain an aesthetically pleasing horticultural environment. These duties may include planting, trimming, administering pesticides and any other function related to the design and upkeep of external and internal landscaping.  Additionally, duties will include mowing, trimming, planting, fertilizing, digging, raking, watering, and laying of sod; controlling weeds inside and outside of facility; as well as maintaining equipment and tools.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time, kneel, stoop and bend as well as lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.  Previous lawn maintenance experience preferred, but not required; must be able to operate weed eater, walk behind mower, tractor mower and power equipment, and be able to pass Federal Security Clearance.

The Director of Retail Operations will work under the leadership of the Executive Vice President to ensure the efficient and effective GGC (Goodwill GoodNeighbor Center - retail stores) operations result in increased profit and mission fulfillment.  The successful candidate will lead, direct, and coach the assigned GGC Team Leader Coaches (store managers) to maximize transaction counts, transaction value, donor value, and profit; plan and develop donated goods operations activities using all available data, resources, and capabilities to insure continuous performance improvement; advocate and support mission employment programs including Vocational Rehabilitation, Job Connections, and community services; assist in preparing and submitting annual GGC budgets, and insure the operation of the GGCs within budgeted expense to revenue ratios; assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and performance management within guidelines of the company’s policies.

The successful candidate will have the ability to conceptualize and recommend/implement improvements at the systems and process level; develop and maintain effective working relationships with team leaders, team members and donors including those individuals with disabilities and/or vocational disadvantages.  In addition, the candidate will have five years’ experience in operating a GGC or retail business with five or more employees; three years’ experience of operating a multi-location operation in a leadership capacity; Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations preferred.  Evening and weekend work required as well as the ability to travel locally and regionally as needed.

Facilitate life skills training, job readiness, and career development workshops with the specific goals of teaching clients necessary to enter the workforce at a level of competency and consistency; track & maintain client attendance reports, complete client intake, assessments and individual progress plans as well as career services counseling.  The successful candidate will be able to communicate written and orally with the ability to write and speak persuasively; have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the education, counseling and/or social work field.  Must have experience working with the disabled population in a job readiness workshop environment.  Experience teaching or working in a warehouse/distribution environment is a plus.

This professional will maintain our employee benefits program to ascertain benefits are offered to the appropriate personnel at the expected time.  In addition, the HR Specialist—Benefits will introduce new hires to the complete benefits program (health, vision, dental, life, disability, retirement, FMLA and worker’s compensation); serve as the liaison during the time of initial enrollment, open enrollment and thereafter--responding to employee inquiries relating to their benefits.  Along with these responsibilities, the professional will input all employee benefits information into our HRIS (UltiPro) including new enrollees and changes to existing enrollees’ benefits.  The professional will handle all inquiries relating to FMLA and all customer and employee accidents, including Worker’s Compensation, within the company.  The Human Resources Specialist—Benefits will work closely with the payroll personnel to ensure accurate and timely processing of insurance carriers’ payments.  The professional will also negotiate rates with insurance carriers and monitor expenses as well as generate applicable reports and make recommendations to company leaders.  Must be able to understand employee benefits and communicate changes to the entire workforce as it applies to them. 

The qualified applicant will hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Organizational Leadership or Management with any related concentration; possess strong math, analytical and interpersonal skills; have a high level of accuracy; be able to stay abreast of any legislative changes that impact employer provided plans and have three to five years of work experience relating to benefits and some knowledge of payroll.  Must be very attentive to detail.

The Key Holder works under the direct supervision of the Team Leader Coach in assisting with the day-to-day operations of the (GGC) Goodwill Good Neighbor Center. The Key Holder is responsible for providing 100% customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, cleaning, pricing and insures cleanliness and image of the GGC. This position is tasked with leadership responsibilities relating to store operations and employee management.  Must be flexible to work rotating schedules between the Shelby Drive and Highland store location & work nights and weekends.

Provide good customer service. Sort donations into salable, salvage and trash categories and hang the apparel on the appropriate size hanger.  Price merchandise, stock shelves and rotate merchandise. Key Holder (Transportation)

The Key Holder works under the direct supervision of the Transportation Director while assisting with the day-to-day operations of handling materials on the transportation dock.  The Key Holder is responsible for providing world-class customer service when assisting customers on the transportation dock as well as maintaining cleanliness and a positive image; opening and closing the facility in the absence of the Transportation Director and Transportation Supervisor. The Key Holder will also assist in loading and unloading the truck, operating the baler, including removing bales from baler for shipment, compacting, sorting donated goods into usable, salvage, or trash when items are on the dock as well as operate fork lift that is used to handle materials on the dock.  Must have 6 months experience in a leadership role and previous material handling experience.
