Contracts

Memphis Goodwill’s Contract Services area works to find job opportunities for those with severe disabilities. Our Contract Services area   employs individuals with significant challenges and barriers who, through their realization of dedication and hard work, can make significant contributions to our society while enriching their own lives. Expanding employment opportunities for these individuals helps our economy draw on the talent, creativity and the work ethic of all its citizens.

Contract Services has been working exclusively with NISH (National Industries for the Severely Handicapped). This is one of two national, nonprofit agencies participating in the AbilityOne Program. This program provide employment opportunities for people who have disabilities or other significant disabilities by procuring federal contracts for goods and services. In 2011, Contract Services began expanding its capabilities into the private sector.

These individuals are being placed in jobs such as:

· Office Janitorial

· Commercial Housekeeping

· Grounds Keeping/Maintenance

· Retail Associates

· Production Associates

· Customer Service/Call Center

· Receptionist/Switchboard

Seventy-eight percent of employees placed from our Contract Services Area have a documented disability. Initially these individuals are heavily supervised until they are accustomed to the work habits and procedures. Once this is achieved, supervision is tailored to the individual’s needs. It is our way of helping individuals be efficient in their work habits and become self-sufficient in their lives.
